Taken care of properly, the 2.0L will last over 100,000 miles with little to no issues. However, certain parts, such as the timing chain and the PCV system, are weak and risk breaking down.

However, the Jeep 2.0 turbo engine has some common issues which many previous owners have witnessed. So, it’s critical to understand those before you use one.

Turbo Lag

A turbo lag is a common problem in modern turbocharged engines. It occurs when the turbo takes a few seconds to boost pressure to the maximum level. The lag can be quite annoying, especially when you need to pass someone on the highway.

The Jeep 2.0 Turbo engine with 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque is reliable and delivers the grunt and punch it should, but refinement isn’t any of that vehicle’s strong suits. It was never designed to be a long-distance cruiser, and ride quality isn’t a concern, but the Wrangler Unlimited 2.0 Turbo struggles to get up to freeway speed.
